The reality is that by high school or college, many girls, teens and young women are falling into a similar storyline:
- They never feel like they are enough.
- Their anxiety is actively keeping them from thriving.
- There is an increased pressure to perform.
- They experience headaches, stomach problems, shortness of breath, fatigue, and sleeplessness that are all encompassing.
Many turn to unhealthy coping habits that only make them feel more alone.
At Girl on Fire, we help girls, teens and young women learn lifelong strategies for empowerment and self-care, while recognizing the infinite potential that lies within.
"There’s just so much going on in my life: the pressures to fit in, the pressure to achieve, and the pressure of social media."
Girls who feel disconnected from their bodies become vulnerable to many dangerous influences.
They fall prey to harmful messages from the media about unrealistic body shapes. They believe the lies that this culture tells them about the worth of a woman. And they have trouble forming healthy boundaries to protect themselves from bullying, unwanted sexual attention, and unhealthy habits.
Girl on Fire sheds light on the darkness.
This empowerment program, piloted in public schools, showed 26% improvements in competencies such as self-worth, confidence and optimism and a whopping 44% increase in resilience, all in just 12 weeks.
